A water main break occurred [INSERT WHEN] on [INSERT LOCATION]. Repairs are underway and we anticipate that service will be restored [INSERT ANTICIPATE DATE AND TIME OF RESUMED SERVICE].

It was necessary to shut down the water main on [INSERT LOCATION]. Once service is restored, customers in that area who are now experiencing a service outage should boil water at least FIVE minutes before using.

Customers should:

1.        Fill a pot with water

2.        Heat the water until bubbles come quickly from the bottom of the pot to the top

3.        Keep heating the water for five more minutes

4.        Turn off the heat source and let the water cool

5.        Pour water into a clean container with a cover for storage

Use bottled water or boiled water that has cooled for the following purposes:

Drinking

Brushing teeth

Washing fruits and/or vegetables

Preparing food and baby formula

Making ice

Giving to pets

The boil order will remain in effect until laboratory sampling confirms that water quality has been fully restored. This will be [INSERT DATE] at the earliest. You will receive notification at that time.
